A fine story of a British soldier kicking butt in Afghanistan. After emptying his magazine into one insurgent, a second appeared. The soldier promptly leaped over the river bank that separated them and put several inches of serrated bayonet steel into his chest. The defenders at Rourke's Drift would be proud.
What's pathetic is the leftist hand-wringing documented by Messr. Steyn. I ask: where is the magical oil we supposedly went into Afghanistan for? Leftists just cannot conceive that we might have gone into Afghanistan for something other than material gain. In truth we've gained nothing materially from going to into Afghanistan, and will likely never see a monetary return on our investment in blood and treasure there. Afghanistan is a woefully poor country.
We're fighting for the Afghan and Western peoples, to ensure the freedom of one and the safety of the other.
